When you’re starting a business, every dollar counts. I know because I’ve been there. So when I heard about Design.com offering logo generation for free and a whole AI design platform for basically the cost of a coffee, I was skeptical. Really skeptical.

Design.com has a reputation as the AI best logo generator in the world. But how good is it? Is it really the best? And, if you need a logo in 2026, should you use Design.com or something else?

Well, I spent two weeks testing Design.com’s AI logo generator and every design tool Design.com’s platform offers. I made logos, business cards, and tried their website builder.

Here’s what actually happened.

What Design.com Actually Is

Design.com is a top AI design platform where you can create logos, websites and other graphic design and branding stuff without hiring a designer. Design.com uses a combination of templates, AI and software and let make custom designs to fit your business, product or project.

Design.com was launched in December 2023 and was founded by Alec Lynch (who is also the founder of DesignCrowd.com, a global graphic design marketplace with over 1 million registered freelance designers, that was founded in 2007).  So while Design.com is a relatively new AI design platform (launching 1 year after ChatGPT), it has 18 years of online design experience sitting behind it.

Most people know of Design.com for its logo product (and that product the focus of this review), but it’s worth noting that Design.com has also got tools for business cards, social media graphics, email signatures, QR codes, presentations and even a website builder. It’s a full AI design platform with more than 50 design tools. Everything runs in your browser. No software to download.

How to Create a Logo Using AI on Design.com

Here’s how to create a logo on Design.com using AI …

Step 1: Enter a Prompt (or Just Enter Your Business Name)

I went to Design.com’s AI logo generator and typed “I need a logo for Grovers Best AI Tech, the focus should be AI and tech”.  Note that you can also just enter your business name.

Step 2: Click Generate

Hit the blue “Generate” button and waited a just few seconds while the AI generates logo options.

Step 3: Browse Generated Logo Options

Design.com fills your screen with different generated logo designs – maybe 30-40 options on the first page but then there were pages and pages of additional logos (thousands of logos generated in total). I scrolled through to see everything available on the first few pages. Some had icons, some were text-only, different color schemes, and layouts.

The logos generated by the tool offered a wide variety – from clean, minimalistic styles to highly creative, diverse designs. Each logo felt unique with no redundancy or repetition, giving me a strong range of high-quality options to choose from.

Step 4: Use Filters to Narrow Down

You can use the filters on the left side to refine your search:

  • You can selected filters like “Modern” or “Wordmark” or “Mascot” under Logo Styles
  • You can choose your preferred colors (I went with Blue and Green – see below)

These filters can help narrow down the options to logos while also modifying them instantly.

Step 5: Select and Customize Your Logo

Click on any logo to then open the customization editor. You can use the editor to:

  • Change colors
  • Adjust the font style and size
  • Modify the icon or layout
  • Change the content, tagline etc
Logo customization editor view

Everything updated in real-time so I could see my changes instantly.

Step 6: Download Your Files

Once happy with the final design, just click “download” and got all the file formats – PNG, JPG, SVG, EPS and PDF.

That’s it. Simple, straightforward.  Initial logo ideas generated in seconds and final logo created in minutes.

Step 7: Create Other Designs

Once have your logo, you can then use Design.com to make everything else you need using their extensive design platform, AI design tools and template library – which becomes your virtual brand kit for everything from websites to business cards and QR codes and presentations.

The Pricing Situation

This is where things get a bit tricky, so let me break it down clearly.

Free Designs

You can generate logos and many other types of design for free on Design.com. If you want to download (and use) a logo for free on Design.com, then you’ll need to select one of Design.com’s completely free designs. Alternatively, if you choose a premium logo on Design.com, you’ll need one of Design.com’s subscriptions in order to download.

Note that Design.com does provide actually 100% free logos for download – unlike many logo generators that say they are free but really are not.  If you’re after a free logo, check out Ranktracker’s excellent article on which logo generators are ACTUALLY free or our other blog post on the best free logo makers with no watermark.

Starter Plan

$15 per month, or $5 per month if you pay annually. Gives you access to your logo but also the Design.com design platform with 50+ design tools and hundreds of thousands of other templates in its brand kit.

Value Plan

$24 per month, or $6 per month if you pay annually. Everything in started plus adds a website builder.

Premium Plan

$29 per month, or $7 per month if you pay annually. Everything in value plan plus features like link-in-bio builder and digital business cards.

Design.com Comparison With Other Options

OptionCostQualitySpeed
Design.comFree-$5-15/monthExcellentVery fast
BrandCrowdFree-$5-15/monthExcellentVery fast
CanvaFree-$13/monthMixed for logosFast
DesignCrowd$100+High, customDays
Freelancer$300-500Can be excellentDays to weeks
Design agency$1,000+ ProfessionalWeeks to months

Canva offers many many free logos on its platform, but the logos there often look amateurish. Design.com produces more polished, higher-quality logos. Design.com’s brand kit (after you get a logo) is also more extensive than anyone else out there – it gives you access to thousands and thousands of perfectly on-brand designs for all the things that you might need after a logo.

Hiring a freelancer or agency gets you something more custom, but the cost and time investment is way higher. For most small businesses, that’s hard to justify.

What I Liked and Didn’t Like on Design.com

After using Design.com for a couple of weeks, here’s my honest take on the good and bad.

Pros of Design.com

  1. The Interface is Easy-to-Use: Everything is where you’d expect it to be. I didn’t need to watch tutorials or read documentation. Clicked around for 5 minutes and figured everything out. The learning curve is basically flat.
  2. Design Quality is The Best I’ve Seen: I’ve used free logo makers before. Most produce obvious template designs that look cheap. Design.com’s templates actually look professional. The difference is that they worked with real designers to create the world’s largest library of logos – and they’ve then combined this with best-in-class AI. You can tell. The only other logo generator that comes close to Design.com for quality is BrandCrowd.
  3. Volume of Designs Generated: Many AI image generators give you just 1 or 2 options after waiting 1 minute for generation to complete. Design.com generates thousands of logo options in seconds. It simply gives you a bigger number of logo designs to choose from.
  4. Speed is Unbeatable: The traditional design process takes a minimum 3-5 days, even with freelancers. For someone launching quickly, this matters. Design.com is extremely fast. You can simply type in your business name to get started. And, as I mentioned above, Design.com takes seconds to generate initial designs making it faster than AI image generators and all other AI logo generators. Only BrandCrowd is similar when it comes to speed.
  5. Brand Kit is the Most Extensive: Made your logo on Design.com? Now you can create matching business cards, websites and just about anything else you need with two clicks. Your colors, fonts, and style automatically apply. Same with social media templates, letterheads, and email signatures. Design.com isn’t just an AI logo generator – it’s a broad AI design platform with dozens of different design tools. Once you make your logo on Design.com, not only do you get access to the whole platform (with all these tools) but there are thousands and thousands and thousands of templates (from websites to business cards and presentations) that will update to include your new logo giving you a massive brand kit that is perfectly on-brand.
  6. File Formats Cover Every Use Case: With Design.com you get vector files that scale infinitely without losing quality. Perfect for print. You also get web-optimized PNG files and JPG files. You can get animated versions for digital use, favicons. Most platforms make you pay extra for vectors. Here it’s included.
  7. Commercial Rights Included & Extended Licenses Options Available: Every logo comes with full commercial rights on paid plans. You can use it for client work, merchandise, whatever. No weird licensing restrictions. They verify all designs for originality, so you’re not getting sued for accidentally copying someone else’s logo. The other cool thing about Design.com is they offer extended licenses (inlcuding exclusive and buyout licenses) which allow you to remove a logo icon from their platform. This is a unique feature of Design.com (you won’t find this on Canva or Adobe) and another reason the logos on Design.com are more unique than any other platform.
  8. AI is Best-in-class: Design.com uses impressive AI with its logo generation – but it also offers a range of other AI design tools. For example, it has an amazing AI website builder and the best AI business card generator we’ve seen. After you generate a logo on the platform, Design.com uses AI to help make related designs (like websites and business cards and social media designs) just for you, based on your logo and what it knows about your business.

Cons of Design.com

  1. Professional designers will feel cramped here. Can’t do fancy effects. Limited control over typography. This is built for simplicity, which is great for beginners, entrepreneurs, business owners and non-designers but restrictive if you know what you’re doing and used to Adobe Illustrator.
  2. You need internet that doesn’t suck. Since everything runs in your browser, a slow or spotty connection makes the whole thing frustrating. Can’t work offline at all.
  3. There are some awesome free templates (logos, websites, business cards and other types of designs) but many of the designs on Design.com are premium and require payment.

What do others say about Design.com

  1. Customers – as of November 2025, Design.com has a 4.7 star rating on Trustpilot which Trustpilot says is “Excellent”. Digging deeper, there are actually lots of verified customer reviews on Trustpilot where the customers say they think Design.com is the “the best” when it comes to logos. Here are some examples:

  1. Online Reviews – there’s no denying there is a lot of hype around Design.com right now. Design.com is often listed as #1 in best logo generator lists for example, Ranktracker ranked Design.com as the #1 best AI logo generator, followed by BrandCrowd in #2 position. According to Ranktracker, Design.com has the largest logo library in the world and many more templates than anyone else.
  2. Google – if you search for “AI logo generator” in Google in the USA, Design.com comes up as #1 in Google (organic rankings i.e. ignoring ads), with Google putting Design.com above Canva and the other options:
AI Logo Generator
  1. Semrush – Design.com’s Semrush traffic for November 2025 says they received 5.49 million visits. According to Semrush data, Design.com gets more traffic than other other top logo generators (like BrandCrowd) and Design.com appears to be more popular than other logo tools like Looka (which has less traffic than Design.com according to Semrush).

Overall, there’s quite a lot of data suggesting Design.com is the #1 best logo generator in the world.

Who Should Use Design.com in 2026

  1. Solopreneurs and startups launching on tight budgets. If you need legitimate branding in 2026 without spending thousands, then Design.com and its AI generation gives you everything required to look professional from day one.
  2. Small business owners who need consistent branding across multiple touchpoints. The connected templates for business cards, social media, and websites ensure everything matches.
  3. Freelancers and consultants are building their personal brand. Quick, affordable, professional results. You can have your logo and entire brand identity done in an afternoon.
  4. Side hustles and passion projects where you want quality but can’t justify big expenses. $60 per year is manageable even for hobby businesses.
  5. Marketing teams at small companies that need design assets regularly but don’t have a budget for a full-time designer or agency retainer.
  6. Non-designers who want professional results without learning complicated software. If Adobe Photoshop or Adobe Illustrator intimidates you, this will feel refreshing.

Design.com doesn’t make sense for:

  1. Professional designers who want advanced creative tools and complete control. You’ll find it limiting. Pro graphic designers should stick to Adobe Illlustrator.
  2. Anyone requiring offline work. Since it’s browser-based, you need internet access.

The Bottom Line

I created my logo, downloaded all the files, and started using it. The total cost was $36 for the year (I got a discount). No back-and-forth with designers. No revision fees. No surprises.

Is Design.com as good as hiring a top designer for $2,000? Maybe, maybe not. But it’s much cheaper and faster and it’s way better than trying to design something yourself in Canva if you have zero design skills.

One thing to understand is this: Design.com removes the technical barriers to getting a professional-looking logo. But you still have to pick good options and make smart customization choices. The tool and AI makes it easier, but you’re still making the decisions.

So, is Design.com the best logo generator? Yes – and that’s why Design.com tops our list of the best AI logo generator tools in the world.

If you’re looking for the best quality logo, ease-of-use, fast generation and best-in-class AI, then Design.com delivers.

In summary, if you need a logo in 2026, we recommend Design.com.
