What is Adobe Acrobat (AI Assistant) Tool?
Adobe Acrobat AI Assistant is a conversational generative AI feature embedded directly inside Adobe Acrobat (Desktop, Web, and Mobile) and Acrobat Reader. It transforms how you interact with PDFs by letting you ask natural-language questions about a document and receive concise, source-attributed answers in seconds.
Powered by Adobe's secure generative AI engine, the AI Assistant can read a single PDF or up to 100 combined files and links — including Word documents, PowerPoint decks, meeting transcripts, and web pages — and produce structured summaries, key-point bullet lists, comparison tables, and even podcast-style audio overviews. Every answer includes numbered citations that link back to the exact paragraph in the source document, so you can verify facts instantly and trust what the AI returns.
Beyond reading, the AI Assistant helps you write and edit: rewrite paragraphs to be longer, shorter, more formal, or more casual; generate email drafts based on a document; turn a report into a presentation outline; or get suggested follow-up questions to explore a topic deeper. It also works on scanned documents thanks to Acrobat's built-in OCR.
Acrobat AI Assistant is available as a low-cost add-on to existing Acrobat Standard, Acrobat Pro, and Acrobat Reader plans, and is included with the new Acrobat Studio tier launched in 2026. It runs across Windows, macOS, iOS, Android, and any modern browser, with enterprise-grade data protection — Adobe does not use customer document content to train its AI models.
Whether you're a student summarizing journal articles, a lawyer reviewing contracts, a sales professional researching prospects, or a knowledge worker drowning in long PDFs, Acrobat AI Assistant cuts reading and research time dramatically while keeping every answer grounded in the source material.
